About Us
Michelle
Cross, LMSW, RD, LD is a graduate of the University
of Texas Coordinated Undergraduate Program in dietetics. She
has practiced as a dietitian since 1984. Michelle received
a Master's degree in Social Work in 2001. Her specialty areas
include eating disorders (adult and adolescents), sports nutrition
and women's health. Michelle has worked in wide variety of
settings including hospitals, clinics, and school settings.
She has served as the nutritionist for UT women's athletic
teams since 1994. Michelle's approach to nutrition therapy
is to empower her clients to learn about their bodies by listening
to internal cues of hunger and fullness. By combining social
work principles to eating behaviors, Michelle helps clients'
become aware of their relationship with food and how it affects
their current life situations.
Michelle has been the owner of Central Texas Nutrition Consultants
since 1991.
Sally
Bowman, MEd, RD, LD is a graduate of the University
of Texas. Sally completed the Coordinated Undergraduate Program
in Dietetics in 1985 and her Master's degree in Health Promotion
and Fitness in 1989. Sally has practiced as a dietitian in
a variety of settings such as spas, fitness clubs and colleges. She has served as the nutritionist of UT Womens Athletics since 2003. Sally is CTNC's Wellness Specialist; she presents worksite wellness programs on a variety of different topics. Sally specializes in weight control, eating disorders, sports and cardiovascular nutrition. Sally has a special interest in the use of foods and supplements in helping the body heal from illness and maximizing energy levels.
Sally is a native Austinite, she attended Westlake High School
where she was the 4A State Singles Tennis Champion. Sally
also played on the University of Texas Tennis team. Sally's
extensive experience allows her to look at all aspects of
her client's life and adjust their diets to give them their
winning combination. Sally has been with Central Texas Nutrition
Consultants since 1996.
Janet
K. Carbonneau, M.Ed, RD/LD, Licensed Professional
Counselor received her B.A. in Food and Nutrition from Duchesne
College of the Sacred Heart. She practiced as a dietitian
off and on for 20 + years before receiving her Masters in
Counseling and Guidance from Southwest Texas State University.
Janet completed her counseling internship at the Insight Center.
Janet’s services include individual and group counseling
with adults and adolescents focusing on anorexia and bulimia,
compulsive eating, body image, depression, and anxiety. It
is Janet’s belief that in a supportive environment,
clients can face their fears and heal the wounds that precede
their abusive relationship with food. This nurturing and accepting
environment provides the space to learn the tools to recover
a normal, healthy relationship with food and their body.
Laura Ward Gruber, R.D., L.D., is a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia and The University of Texas at Austin. Her keen interest in nutrition and passion for cooking led her to pursue a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Laura started her career in nutrition working with cancer patients and cancer survivors. She has worked in hospital settings with intensive care patients, as well as, outpatient cardiac rehabilitation and diabetic counseling. Prior to joining Central Texas Nutrition Consultants, she was the nutritionist at The Hills Fitness Center. Her interest now includes helping clients achieve their natural healthy weight which in turn may assist in lowering cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar results. As she has raised her family, she has developed many quick nutritious recipes that she enjoys sharing with her clients.
